Anonymous asked: What's your opinion on Half Life 2, and for that matter, the Half Life Series in General?
Ah yes, the Half-Life series. Some of the best quality games out there, always cutting edge at their time of release.
Graphics - 10/10: Like I said always cutting edge at their time of release. Half life 2 was THE SHIT when it came out, you didn’t get better graphics.
Storyline (HL1) - 8/10: Quite average, but certain aspects that I can’t really pick out made it very fun. Worth a play but didn’t explain the combine in HL2 (even though they are EXPLAINED in hl2, why didn’t we get to play through the part where they come in? It’s like the series is missing a game!)
Storyline (HL2) - 10/10: Could not be better, this storyline is on par with legends like The Legend Of Zelda :Ocarina Of Time. The storyline constantly keeps you wondering whats around the next corner, it keeps you involved, gives you clues as to what’s around that corner that you’re getting ever closer to. Then suddenly BAM! It hits you with a twist.
Gameplay - 9/10: excellent gameplay, but the games still had a FEW monotonous parts that made you want to tape down your analogue stick or keyboard key, and just let the game do it. Aside from those few parts though, the game tries to add in new mechanics such as a vehicle every now and then, and keep you from getting tired of the same types of tasks. Even in the first game you could see that when fighting the three headed monster (the “first boss”), you had to throw grenades to distract it from your footstep sounds.
Overall for the series - 9/10: Half life 1 wasn’t nearly AS good as HL2, but it was still killer, and HL2 brings the score up to just below perfect!
